In Glare's own words, “For the Islanders, learning to swim at a young age is imperative.” She grew up in Puerto Rico, trained as an engineer, and found her way to teaching ISR Self-Rescue because of what happened at a pool when her own son was one.
Glare's story
From a Caribbean island to a pool in Helotes.
The island
Water was the whole childhood.
Glare grew up on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, where she played in the water: swimming, surfing, windsurfing, water skiing and boating.
The engineer
A different career first.
She graduated as an engineer and went to work.
Noah
Then her son was born.
When her son, Noah, was born, she left work to become a stay-at-home mom.
Age one
She took him through ISR herself.
Glare first experienced ISR with Noah when he was one year old.
Coach Glare
A swimming teacher, then ISR Certified.
She became a swimming teacher and later a certified ISR Instructor. Parents now call her Coach Glare, Miss Glare and Mrs. Sanchez.
Glare's goal
“To give moms an additional layer of security by equipping their young ones with unique water survival skills that help them stay safe while enjoying the water.”
An additional layer, not the only one. Infant Swimming Resource is clear that fences, supervision and alarms matter as part of a multi-layered approach to drowning prevention, and the programme adds the child's own skills on top. Read how the lessons are built: ten minutes a day, Monday through Friday.

ISR Certified
Glare is a certified Infant Swimming Resource instructor, and ISR says its instructors attend a yearly re-certification symposium with continuing education.
